John has completed his Masters in Counselling at the City University of Seattle in Canada, and he is currently a student for a Doctor in Philosophy in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Alder University in the United States. John’s future aspiration is to continue his career in developing programs and community initiatives that will empower individuals to express their uniqueness and reach their full potential. John has a strong passion for working with children, youths, and families. He has developed support groups for LGBTQ2+ youths and created a network of support for LGBT refugees. John has worked with families experiencing domestic violence in immigrant sectors, providing anger management and parenting workshops. John is also active in the Filipino community in Calgary, where he advocated for mental health within his community. John has strong experience in facilitating positive parenting support, social skills development, and emotional regulation for children with disabilities.

His work is informed with eclectic approach of family system theories, cognitive-behaviour therapy, cultural humility, brief solution therapy, resiliency model, and strength-based approach. In the disability sector, John provides clinical support using combination of Positive Parenting Program (Triple P), Applied Behaviour Analysis informed practice, Positive Behaviour Support, Social Thinking Model, Circles Curriculum, and Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS).

In his free time, John is an avid hiker and has explored different terrains around the Rocky Mountains. John also enjoys traveling and has been to Europe and Asia.

Rene Ramirez is a registered provisional psychologists who specializes in helping people reach their potential through the frameworks of Narrative Therapy, Family Systems Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). When he’s not working, Rene enjoys traveling, exploring different cultures and sports, such as soccer and martial arts (Muay Thai).

Rene is fluent in English and Spanish and has experience helping clients from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. He works with adolescents, adults, families, and couples and is knowledgeable in different areas such as stress, anxiety, depression, romantic relationships, emotional dependence, and self-esteem.

His therapy sessions are tailored to each individual client’s needs, using a variety of modalities. Rene has a strengths-based, solution-focused approach to therapy and he believes that everyone has the inner resources they need to overcome challenges and improve their relationships.

Rene is passionate about mental health and promoting well-being in society. He feels that everyone has the potential to reach their goals with the help of psychology.
