Child Development Facilitators
We are looking for a developmental behavioural aide with experience and passion to assist a multidisciplinary team of clinicians to teach and provide support to families of children with disabilities. This is a contractual-based position.
Roles & Responsibilities
Be creative and flexible in developing plans and implementing therapeutic programming as outlined and directed by the multidisciplinary team through an engaging and play-based approach in the family’s home and in the community.
Provide adaptive support to clients through implementing behavioural strategies, daily living support, and communication techniques.
Regularly communicate the client’s progress and challenges to the family and therapy team through a verbal and/or electronic platform.
Independently organize/schedule therapeutic sessions with the client.
Maintain the confidentiality of clients and the organization.
Complete all necessary paperwork and other logistical requirements (e.g.,. monthly invoice, tracking sheets, daily development logs, and summary, and Incident report)
Maintain continuous professional development through training, and communication with all colleagues.
Working Conditions
Physical demands: Lifting, bending, rotating, kneeling, squatting, running, walking, and/or sitting on the floor.
Work environment: family’s home, and/or community.
Qualifications
Diploma, Certificate, or Bachelor’s degree in child development, psychology, human service, disabilities studies, community rehabilitation, or social work. A student in an accredited Canadian institution is the minimum position requirement.
Have a minimum of three months of experience working with children and families.
Passion for learning about disabilities and child development.
Strong capacity to build rapport and a keen critical thinking skill to adapt to changing environments.
Effective communication skills to build a working alliance with therapists and clients.
Must be at least 18 years old
Current clear criminal record check and child and youth intervention check.
Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
